Clare Guilding is Dean of Academic Affairs at Newcastle University Medicine Malaysia (NUMed). She has a first class BSc (Hons) degree and PhD in neuroscience from The University of Edinburgh. Clare spent eight year conducting postdoctoral neuropharmacology research at the Universities of Glasgow and Manchester, before moving to the School of Medical Education at Newcastle University in 2011. Prior to moving to NUMed in 2017, her UK roles included MBBS Deputy Degree Programme Director and co-lead of the Clinical Pharmacology, Therapeutics and Prescribing strand. Clare’s medical education research interests lie in curriculum development and innovations in teaching. She places a high value on interactivity and clinical fidelity in teaching and has a keen interest in simulation and interprofessional education. Clare played a key role in developing The British Pharmacological Society’s new undergraduate pharmacology curriculum and Newcastle University’s Clinical Pharmacology, Therapeutics and Prescribing curriculum. Her innovations in pharmacology education have been recognised both nationally and internationally.
