Serge Cremers, Editor-in-Chief British Journal of Clinical Pharmacology
Serge Cremers received his PharmD from the University of Groningen in 1996 and his PhD in clinical pharmacology from the University of Leiden in The Netherlands in 2004. After a postdoctoral fellowship at Novartis Oncology in Florham Park NJ, he joined the faculty of Columbia University in New York City where he currently is a professor of Pathology and Medicine. Prof. Cremers is the Director of the CLIA-licensed Clinical Pharmacology and Toxicology Laboratory at Columbia University Irving Medical Center, which develops and runs mass spectrometry-based assays for drugs and biomarkers in support of patient care. His research is focused on clinical pharmacology of drugs in metabolic bone diseases, cancer, transplantation, infectious diseases, and psychiatry. Mike has extensive experience in all phases of drug discovery research from target identification through clinical candidate selection and clinical development including proof of concept studies and life-cycle management. He has also provided scientific and medical oversight for established drug therapies in multiple therapeutic areas including epilepsy, pain, dyslipidemia, hypertension and metabolic disorders. Mike has authored/co-authored more that 250 peer-reviewed publications (h=71, i10 = 196). He serves on numerous committees and editorial boards for the American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics (ASPET). He currently serves as the ASPET President and is the Editor in Chief of Pharmacology Research & Perspectives, a unique collaborative Gold Open Access pharmacology research journal between ASPET, the British Pharmacology Society, and Wiley.Ulf Simonsen, Deputy Editor-in-Chief, Basic & Clinical Pharmacology & Toxicology
Ulf Simonsen is Professor of Pharmacology from Aarhus University. He is educated as medical doctor and is Doctor in Medicine (1994) from Complutense University, Madrid, Spain. His research group aims to develop novel pharmacological approaches to improve endothelial function in cardiovascular disease and to improve the treatment of patients with pulmonary disease. The main focus is translational science, experience in pharmacological studies in cell cultures and tissue samples from patients and animals, and clinical studies. Dr. Simonsen has authored more than 300 papers, book chapters, and patents. He is cofounder of Initiator Pharma A/S.
