On behalf of the Organising Committee and the British Pharmacological Society we are delighted to invite you to the 19th World Congress of Basic and Clinical Pharmacology – WCP2023.
From 2 – 7 July 2023 we will welcome the world’s pharmacology and therapeutics community to the Scottish Events Campus in Glasgow, Scotland. We are looking forward to celebrating the diversity of this community, from students and early career pharmacologists to the world’s leading authorities; from clinical pharmacologists working in national healthcare systems to innovators at the cutting edge of drug discovery in industry and academia.
Registration is now open and we have permanently fixed ticket prices at the lower early bird rates. This is in recognition of the rising cost of living world wide and our belief that it is important for as many people as possible to be able to attend the congress and share valuable scientific esearch for the benefit of human and animal health. We have partnered with Glasgow Convention Bureau to offer great deals and flexible bookings on your accommodation, and we have put together a travel guide to help you get to venue and travel around Glasgow.
There are still lots of opportunities to get involved with WCP2023. We are currently accepting abstracts submissions for oral communications and poster presentations until 4 November 2022, and we invite proposals for satellite meeting until 6 January 2023.
In both its scientific programme and the make-up of its attendees, WCP2023 will be characterised by its focus on diversity and collaboration, underpinned by scientific excellence. There will be over 450 speakers and chairs from 36 countries, including an outstanding line-up of key note speakers across the six-day congress.
We are looking forward to welcoming you to Scotland, a country famed for its hospitality, its scenery and its history. You will be able to sample some of Scotland’s cultural traditions, while catching up with friends and colleagues, in the many events in our social programme.
As well as its rich traditions, Scotland is also forward-looking, dynamic, and – significantly for us – at the cutting edge of drug discovery. Glasgow, our host city, has strong connections to pharmacology and the life sciences. It is home to three universities, Glasgow, Strathclyde and Glasgow Caledonian. All have strong life sciences departments with a major focus on pharmacology.
Glasgow is compact so in your time away from the Congress you will have no difficulty exploring the many cultural attractions it has to offer, including its world class art galleries and museums.
Just 30 minutes outside the city lie some of the world’s most breath-taking scenery in the form of lochs, mountains and historic castles. The historic capital city of Edinburgh is only an hour away and offers a huge amount for visitors to see and do, including Edinburgh Castle, Scotland’s most visited tourist attraction. Scotland is the birth-place of golf, and there are over 580 courses to try, including the world famous St. Andrews. We really encourage you to make the most of your time in Scotland before, during and after the Congress.
In the meantime, we hope this website gives you all the information you need to start planning your WCP2023 experience.
With best wishes,
